Chances are that since it’s just after the holidays, you’ve got some nifty new gadgets that need power. If buying batteries is breaking the bank, we’re here to help. Here are three of the best battery-related hacks culled from the internets.
1. Upping Your Battery’s Life Expectancy at HackCollege: Rechargeable batteries do eventually die — permanently. Whether it’s a cell phone, digital camera or laptop, if you plan on regularly depending on the battery for more than a year, you better be cautious. Rechargeable batteries will eventually hit the point of no return, which means as much as a $200 replacement for laptops.
2. The $40 hidden inside a 12V battery at Wise Bread: Kipkay over at Metacafe has done it again, with a life hack and battery hack that will save you roughly $40 on those 1.5V button cell batteries. All you need is a 2-pack of 12V A23 batteries, which retail at less than $2 a pack. I found my set on Amazon for $1.66.
3. The famous Pandora’s Battery at N00bz!: We told you that we’d be releasing an unbricker for the M33 bricks. But then we got to thinking, maybe that just wouldn’t be exciting enough. Would you like a super special surprise bonus? How about an unbricker for ALL PSPs? Yep, you read that right. We call it “Pandora’s Battery”.

1The Pandora’s Battery trick can be pulled off without an already modded PSP. Trick is you have to physically hack the battery. I attempted this myself with the last model battery of the fat PSP only to short it out. Read all you can about the physical mod before doing it. There’s some videos out there that show you how. You can also go a more costly route and buy a “tool” battery made by Datel and sold by divineo.com.
