Even through the cold and snow, our minds are still on the first signs of spring - there’s no denying that the world is starting to thaw and things will soon be turning green again. To get you ready for gardening, here are a few more resources for using garbage in your garden.

Use an old CD case to make a mini-greenhouse for outdoor seedlings. The plastic will act as a solar warmer while also protecting the delicate seedling from local wildlife.

Keep the top from your fresh pineapple and use it to grow a whole pineapple plant!

For that matter, you can grow new plants from lots of kitchen scraps that you would normally throw away.

Use old containers like bowls and birdbath basins as planters rather than throwing them away.

Use old, landfill-bound wood to make a border or raised bed for your garden.

Use broken dishes to create a beautiful mosaic patio table that you can use for holding a potted plant.

Gather up your garbage and make whimsical and unique garden art. It doesn’t have to look like art to anyone else - as long as seeing it makes you happy and makes you want to spend more time in your garden.
