15 Ways to Make a Dental Appointment More Tolerable

For some, the dentist is probably the scariest person on Earth. Many people dread visiting the tooth doctor, since most dental procedures are associated with pain. Everyone certainly remember the times when they had a tooth pulled or had the most dreaded of all dental procedures: the root canal treatment. You may try to worm your way out of your dental appointments for now, but there will come a time when a meeting with your dentist is absolutely inescapable. What will you do when that time comes?
You must know that a dental appointment isn’t really so bad if you apply the right strategies. Pain, of course, will be present, though there are ways for you to divert your attention to things other than tooth-related agony. You should just have lush imagination, a strong will and the cunning of a con artist to endure the most painful dental procedures. So here are the ways to make a dental appointment more tolerable:
1. Clench Your Fists, Even Before Sitting in the Dental Chair – When you clench your fists, you are in anticipation of much pain. Your muscles twitch, readying you for a painful predicament. Once you enter the dental chair, keep your fists clenched and your muscles twitched at all costs. 2. The Empowering Mental Chant – Chanting is a form of meditation connected to many spiritual practices. It keeps a person tranquil, in spite of the presence of distractions around. I take Advil because it eases the pain and is anti-inflammatory…..much better than the other 15 that you clam help.
I have tried some of those…And they did get me through the first appointment for root canal treatment…Hopefully, they still work in the succeeding appointments…
yeah, most people are scared of going to the dentist. no. 2 works for me. i had a root canal done without anaesthesia. painful? yes, but i take my mind off the pain by doing breathing exercises (yoga-like) and saying to myself - this is not painful, this is not painful (self-hypnosis).
Get a dentist who does things quickly and efficiently. That’s all there is to it.

Focus on the bill / invoice intently and all previous pain experienced in the dentist’s chair will seem insignificant.

This is a joke right?
1. Clenching fist, one of the worse things to do! when dealing with any physical discomfort or pain, it is much much more beneficial to be as relaxed as possible, even if your mind is racing, allowing your muscles to relax always helps reduce pain, the perception of pain, and how the individual tolerates the whole situation.
I do agree with points 2,3,4,5,6, 13,15
But the others are IMO at best bad advice, and at worse down right ridiculous e.g. #9 Picking a fight is never going to resolve dental health issues !!!
